  • BOARD CHANGES

The Ohio Board of Motor Vehicle Repair, CRB, recently enacted policies and procedures to pursue the owners of non-compliant repair facilities through administrative hearings and fines rather than civil injunctions and court proceedings.

Non-compliant repair facility owners will be given the opportunity of a hearing before a hearing officer. These hearings will be held at the Vern Riffe Center in Columbus. Shop owners will have the right to hire an attorney and call their own witnesses at the hearing, or testify on their own behalf.

If the hearing officer finds the owner is in violation of the registration laws, O.R.C. Section 4775.02, the CRB Board will determine what restitution is fit for the situation. The fine schedule is listed below.

Should the owner wish to waive their right to a hearing, the owner may enter into a Settlement Agreement with the Board and avoid possible fines.

    Fine Schedule for Violations
Last Revision Date: March 16, 2022

1st Violation $500 (with a 30-day grace period to comply)
    2nd Violation $1,500
    3rd Violation $2,500
4th and Any Subsequent Violations $5,000

  • H.B. 77 - Window Tinting

  • The Ohio Board of Motor Vehicle Repair has begun issuing window decal clings to each registered business. The decals will be mailed with your new registration certificates at your next renewal. This window decal can be placed where the general public, insurance carriers, and suppliers can see it and know your business is legally registered. It may also be placed on mobile units. The Board is hoping the decals generate a conversation about the Board and what we do. To prevent unregistered businesses from displaying decals, the decals shall remain the property of the Ohio Board of Motor Vehicle Repair (CRB), and may be removed by CRB personnel if the registration does not remain valid.
